Responsible Eco-Tourism

COMMITTED TO SUSTAINABILITY

Waitukubuli Tours has made a long term commitment to protect and preserve the spectacular natural setting we are fortunate to do business in, by actively practicing the principles of ecotourism, sustainability, and respect in nature.

We have been taking UNWTO and TIES annotations to heart, using them to guide decision-making across every aspect of our business over the years.

For us at Waitukubuli Tours, that translates into taking a leadership role in our community by developing and implementing ecotourism awareness programs, and continually monitoring of our use of natural resources for areas of improvement.

SUPPORTING RESEARCH & CONSERVATION

Waitukubuli Tours actively supports the efforts of organizations dedicated to wildlife research and conservation, including education, recovery and policy development around wildlife in their natural habitat.

Not only have we assisted the Government of Dominica with the Caribbean's first Sperm Whale Sanctuary, we also support the Soufriere Scotts Head Marine Reserve, Carbrits Marine Reserve, Morne Trois Piton National Park, Center for Whale Research, The Dominica Sperm Whale Project, WWF Protecting Whales & Dolphins Initiative, Caribbean Cetacean Society, The Whale Sanctuary Project, and World Fisheries Trust.

HELPING PRESERVE OUR OCEAN AND THE WILDLIFE WITHIN IT

Waitukubuli Tours collects a $2 per person Marine Reserve user fee. In 2012, we collaborated with the Soufriere Scotts Head Marine Reserve (SSMR) to proactively protect our coastal marine habitat. Waitukubuli Tours donates the entire amount of this fee to the Local Area Management (LAMA). New in 2024, Waitukubuli Tours now donates $1 of this fee to the Cabrits Marine Reserve to help support ongoing park rehabilitation efforts in the north of the island.

SINCE 2012, DOMINICA MARINE CENTER, WAITUKUBULI TOURS AND OUR GUESTS FROM AROUND THE WORLD HAVE CONTRIBUTED OVER $5,000 TOWARDS THE MARINE PARKS AROUND DOMINICA.

OUR FRIENDS OF THE ENVIRONMENT

Waitukubuli Tours continually looks for new ways to protect and preserve our spectacular natural surrounding, by further reducing our carbon footprint, expanding our green initiatives with improved waste management, and sourcing from local and sustainable suppliers whenever possible.

As a Climate Friendly Company, we would like to acknowledge our like-minded Industry partners who are also working to create a greener community.
